  •  Did you see Samantha Bee interview delegates (11+ / 0-)

    at the convention?

She'd ask them a leading question about freedom and they'd start pitching the standard line: "Nothing's more inportant than personal freedom! The government shouldn't be telling people what they can and cannot do! It's our right as Americans to make our own decisions!"

And then Bee would oh-so-innocently ask: "And that applies to abortion, right? You know, this personal freedom, deciding for yourself stuff?"

    Gurgle, gulp, choke, stare!

Freedom has two enemies: Those who want to control everyone around them...and those who feel no need to control themselves.

    •  I didn't see that but recall with fondness her (6+ / 0-)

interviewing a female delegate in 2008 after Sarah Palin spoke and asking this woman about Sarah's story about being at the governors' conference and choosing not to have an abortion. Samantha Bee said something along the lines of, it's great that Sarah Palin had that option, don't you think?

      The young woman agreed.

Then Bee asked her, can you think of another word for it? For "option"?

      No answer.

Then Bee said, "it rhymes with moice."

Blank stare. And then the woman got it and said, haltingly, "choice."

"At stake are not just the details of policy, but fundamental principles of social justice and the character of our country." ~Sen. Ted Kennedy

I don't usually like Bee  She's often okay but not as funny as many other correspondents.  This "report" was absolutely priceless, though.
Oh, I really don't like her husband.  Nobody misses all the time but Jason isn't funny.

"Waiting her for Everyman, don't ask me if he'll show...maybe, I don't know." "You might think that it's (Earth) beautiful, if you didn't know. You might think that it's turning, but it's turning so slow." Both from Jackson Browne
