  •  I ran my one and only marathon in 1988 (6+ / 0-)

It was 4 hours and 17 minutes, with temperatures in the 70's and high humidity.

It is still very vivid in my memory.  The entire event, and specifically the time, is just not something that you would "forget", especially if you have only run one marathon in your life.

    •  and for the multiple marathoners (5+ / 0-)

Lying about your time is a cardinal sin.
      And he lied BIG.

He could have said 4 hours, 5 hours, whatever, and most people would be impressed that he ran a marathon, and move on. But no, he had to go big with something that would impress runners. It was so unnecessary, but he did anyway.
      I hope it sinks him.

        As I posted above:

People of all persuasions run and this shit isn't going to fly with them. Everyone hates a person that lies about their athletic prowess. This will plant a seed of doubt (if not revulsion) in every conservative athlete that isn't a compulsive liar like Ryan.

He fucked up big time on this one. Pride goeth before the fall.
