though I don't think Ryan's speech was for 2016. He opened himself up for a lot of criticism by being so aggressive with facts. It wasn't a safe speech. It was more an "all-in" speech that suggests he was really playing for November. And frankly, he probably didn't have much choice in the matter, as the Romney campaign would have had say in terms of the content of the speech Ryan delivered.

His national brand is now "lying Medicare-killer", and will become more so over the next two months. He will not be competitive for a national ticket again.

He may think he's going to run in four years, but...well, so did Sarah Palin.

The danger in 2016 is Huckabee. He has a gigantic machine, a big following, radio and television programs, money, and somewhat softer talk on social programs.

Huckabee is less and less a threat.  Four years ago, I thought he had some folsy charm; in 2012 after seeing his speech at the RNC, he came across as a charm-free codger.  Four years from now, demography will not be his friend and he will be regarded as a right wing zealot.... which is what he actually is and always has been.  Time has a clarifying effect in such cases.

I vote Democratic because I am a woman with self-respect , who rejects bigotry of all kinds, subscribes to science, believes in universal health care, embraces unions, and endorses smart internationalist foreign policy.
