Since there will no longer be ice floes to carry off American seniors, Americans may soon be checking out foreign laws and their family histories in order to secure reasonably-priced medical care in their old age. Here's one that's close to home: "Canadian citizenship is typically obtained by birth in Canada, birth abroad when at least one parent is a Canadian citizen and was born or naturalized in Canada, or by adoption abroad by at least one Canadian citizen."

To state the obvious, if you're a Canadian citizen you can apply for a Canadian passport and emigrate to Canada, while keeping your U.S. citizenship (if you wish). I must admit the thought of having to absorb the costs of very ill seniors nearing the end of their lives - without the decades of paying Canadian taxes - is not very attractive. Is it any less horrible than Paul Ryan pushing a (Canadian citizen) granny off a cliff?
