    Invariably try to be friendly to lesbians both in work environments and social and have always been rebuffed.  Not sure what the problem is.   My business partner is gay, I even checked with him and thought he might give me a clue if I was making some sort of mistake somewhere.   He couldn't explain it either.

      interested in them as 'lesbians' (instead of as people)? Or it might feel like you're coming on to them. What do your (straight) women friends have to say about it?

      Something to keep in mind, maybe -- straight women, for whatever reasons, are used to adjusting their behavior to make men comfortable. Creating psychic space for the male ego*, as it were. Lesbians tend to fall out of that habit (if they ever had it). And some men take offense at that...
