  •  this the only reason anyone pays attention to RP (0+ / 0-)
Glenn goes to areas where people are taking a stand on some of the issues that he writes about.  This led to articles about Ron Paul as someone brave enough to criticize both political parties and advocate drug legalization.
People never fail to latch onto the handful of positions that they agree with a politician on to the exclusion of other positions that they rationalize away as either unimportant or "you take the good with the bad".

RP has one or two good ideas, ideas I too with the Democratic Party would embrace.  But the rest of his platform is as radically right-wing as any of them and it's the product of a truly toxic ideology.

To those who say the New Deal didn't work: WWII was also government spending

    •  Ron Paul has appeal because he believes in facts. (0+ / 0-)

I would have enjoyed a Ron Paul candidacy over any of the rest precisely because he seemed like more of an old-style conservative.  No foreign wars, no aggressive drug war.

He at least seemed to believe in facts, even if almost all of his policies were regressive.  He ranted about big-government politics, of which both parties do support (in different ways, but both support).  He would've been a better direction for the party to take.

Yes, Ron Paul is more reasonable than the alternatives.  He was the best choice of a crappy selection.
