  •  Toyota RAV4 EV will be released soon (4+ / 0-)

There was a nice story about it in the NY Times on Sunday. It has a range of 120 to 130 miles with a Tesla battery and drivetrain. The price before incentives will be around $50k.

As more manufacturers introduce hybrid electric and full electric cars, the better it will be for all of us. Meanwhile, let's cheer on the Volt.

Toyota made an all-electric RAV4 for the California market back in the 90s. Not sure why they discontinued it, but a lot of the tech found its way into the Prius, eg regenerative braking.

(True story: I learned about the electriv RAV4 from an op-ed by actress and environmentalist Alexandra Paul. She drove one of the original EV-RAV4s.)

Reforms come from below. No man with four aces howls for a new deal.

It mentions the first edition of the RAV4. I saw one back in the day when they were first introduced. It is a shame that they were not as successful as I hoped they would be. That just confirms to me that perfectly conceived and revolutionary products often fail to be adopted because they are too far ahead of their time.
