  •  So I should ignore the monthly jobs reports? (2+ / 0-)

CNN's fact checking is highly nuanced and slanted to make it sound like job additions is a false claim made by Democrats.

They only get into Obama's track record of improvement buried in the last part of the article and in a particularly amorphous way.

I watch the monthly jobs reports closely and I see 29 months of straight jobs being added to the economy and an expansion of GDP... not a contraction.

Am I supposed to ignore these reports or the fact that the US economy has begun adding manufacturing jobs for the first time since 1998?

Here is the August 2012 jobs report from ADP which will make it 30 months of job additions... and if the BLS figures match it will mean 50,000 jobs above the 150,000 jobs needed to keep pace with new job seekers entering the work force.:

    U.S. PRIVATE-SECTOR EMPLOYMENT INCREASED BY 201,000 JOBS
IN AUGUST, ACCORDING TO ADP NATIONAL EMPLOYMENT REPORT

    ROSELAND, N.J. – September 6, 2012 –

Private-sector employment increased by 201,000 from July to August on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the latest ADP National Employment Report® released today. The ADP National Employment Report, created by Automatic Data Processing, Inc. The estimated gain from June to July was revised up from the initial estimate of 163,000 to 173,000.

U.S. Nonfarm Private Employment Highlights – August 2012 Report:

I don't know yet what the BLS numbers will be in comparison to what I found at ADP... but if it is over 200,000 jobs added in August... I'm a damn happy camper!

CNN preaches doom and gloom on jobs... is it accurate?

Outlook gloomy for August jobs report

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The stakes are high and the forecast is gloomy, ahead of the August jobs report scheduled to be released Friday by the Labor Department.

A month ago, that report showed businesses added 163,000 jobs in July. Job gains at that level were the strongest in five months, but still were not robust enough to keep up with population growth. The unemployment rate ticked up to 8.3%.

Unfortunately, August doesn't look like it fared much better.

Employers probably added about 120,000 jobs, keeping the unemployment rate at its current level, according to economists surveyed by CNNMoney.

I said, based on the snippets I'd seen from each, that the AP article was significantly worse than the CNN article.
