I left Phoenix for Washington (currently in Tacoma) last July.  While I haven't had much luck as far as employment (2 jobs in one year, and recently laid off), I love this place.  I went from Hell to Paradise.

Phoenix is a shithole when it comes to jobs.  If you aren't a real estate broker, a banker, or a trust fund baby, you've got little to choose from--most of it minimum wage, food or hospitality service jobs.  It sucks, and unfortunately, the Republican-dominated Legislature makes sure that it sucks.

I hope you can find work soon.  I really hope, however, that it's as far away from the Valley of the Sun as you can get.

Hope is a good thing--maybe the best of things--and no good thing ever dies.

I have landed a few freelance writing gigs but not enough to pay the bills. I figure I can do CSR work until I have enough freelance work to make a living wage.

If I ever finish writing the Great American Novel, we'll definitely head back to southwest Colorado!

Next time I'll think to you about gravity and its opposite, comedy.

    •  Tacoma is nice (0+ / 0-)

A bohemian friend of mine says it's "the city of the future". I tease him that it always will be. ;-)  But I like it, too.
