or Medicaid have much to do with their lives.  It's for "old people."  They fail to undrstand they might need these programs for their parents and grandparents...or even for themselves now or in the future.

While my father was in a SNF for rehab for a fall, we met a man living there.  We called him "OK" because he rode around the halls in his wheelchair yelling "OK."  He was a Vietnam Vet...Special Forces...captured and tortured (bayoneted multiple times) and he had had a stroke some years back.  He had no one but a brother to care for him.

(We learned his story by visiting with him...bringing him strawberry shakes which he loved...and patiently writing questions or learning to interpret his speech)

OK wasn't old...he just needed care...and the VA didn't provide it.  So...Medicaid.  Without it, he would have been doomed.  He died recently...another stroke.  And, as bad as SNF's may be, it was better than freezing to death in a deserted alley or worse.  RomneyRyanworld...coming to a family near you!

imagine a very effective ad that asks voters just that question: "Have you set aside enough money in case voters let Romney-Ryan put in their plan to remove your Medicare and replace it with coupons?" Something like that.
