  •  Clint does have a point... (0+ / 0-)

I know we're here at Daily Kos and I will vote for Obama. But Clint makes 2 valid points. One, Obama didn't keep many of his promises (Gitmo? Employee Free Choice Act? Minimum wage increase?). And, quite frankly, Obama is a bit of a hoax. That deal he was ready to make with Boehner, increasing the Medicare retirement age and cutting future Social Security benefits is not what the Democratic Party is about. Neither is keeping intact Bush's national security apparatus that includes spying on Americans and assassinating US citizens. Obama is clearly better than anyone the Republican Party could possibly offer, but in his own words, we could do better.

    •  It's hard to keep promises about things you don't (0+ / 0-)

have total control over. In Obama's defense, he proposes, but Congress disposes.

    •  If that were what he had focused on, social (0+ / 0-)

security, the Bush national security apparatus, etc., etc. maybe it would have been more of a real critique.

Of those things, he only mentioned Gitmo. I also think that if he calls the President a hoax, he should explain what he means. Does he mean someone who is a hoax to a hawk-like Republican, a puppet of corporations, a hoax to a progressive would be entirely different.

He might have a point, but the looking down on the President even made Scott Walker cringe, it made everyone cringe, so it backfired. He probably didn't even plan it, so maybe he can be forgiven, but someone that old should know you don't look down on the President. How rude.

You have good points, Eastwood didn't.
