    Because what people will hear and remember is the word "hoax." He should have led with, "Climate change is real, and it's here," or something like that -- something positive and declarative.

      but for different reasons. "It is not a hoax" unfortunately keeps up the idea that there's a hoax/not hoax disagreement.

      I'd much rather see him play off of the fact that we're seeing the climate change. Make the truth into something that's just obvious.

      But saying something definitive is better than saying nothing much, so I'll view it as a positive from where we've been and hope (read: press, push, cajole, scream) to see this administration do a whole lot more on it in these next years.

        that line devoted too much of itself to debating hoax/not hoax. but really, as Gore said, the debate is over. better to say climate change is here, it's a problem, we have to come together and deal with it.

        rather than debate that point (hoax) w the GOP, go around them to where the truth is.
