Secretary of State Husted backs down on early voting after the Court ordered him to appear. It might still be overturned, but I think the Romney campaign is recognizing a lost cause.
Now, that doesn't explain what they are doing.
Is their war chest smaller than they've been letting on? Possibly - Mitt's support comes from a relatively small pool of rich guys, and their direct contributions are limited. I don't think a lot of the base is stirred enough to write checks to a guy that could finance a lot of his own campaign out of pocket - especially when they don't like him to begin with.
And I agree that they may be in a panicked re-examination of message, since their convention fell flat. And the Marathon Man apparently keeps buying hashtags, so maybe they're going to focus funds on new media (good luck with that).

    •  Lost cause? Hardly (0+ / 0-)

The 6th Circuit will probably overturn the District Court's decision, and the Supreme Court will refuse to hear the case.  Romney has Ohio in the bag already.
