    with high-stakes testing, you can read about it in many, many places. It's not hard to find.
    One place to look: Amanda Walker Johnson's book "Objectifying Measures: The Dominance of High-Stakes Testing and the Politics of Schooling." You can read it here.
    Or you can read her doctoral dissertation (from the University of Texas Austin) on which she baseheree book here.

    It's not hard to discredit high-stakes standardized assessments of teaching or learning. What is hard is swimming upstream against the current of private corporations and their advertising budgets. How can anyone possibly believe that profit-making institutions (mostly profiting from your tax dollars) will do a better job teaching our children to think?
