  •  Senate race is tight - too tight. (16+ / 0-)

For all his obvious (to us, anyway) failings, Allen still resembles a carbon-based lifeform to a greater degree than does the candidate at the top of his ticket. So he doesn't have the same level of unfavorables as Romney and the polling is pretty even.

Kaine has high favorables in the state as well, so this one will go down to the wire and will be decided by the ground game.

The House seats that I've heard are in any kind of play are VA-02, where Paul Hirschbiel has a chance to unseat Scott Rigell, and VA-05 where Gen John Douglass is running a very savvy campaign against Robert Hurt.   PVI scores (and the D-trip lists) have 02 as a better chance than 05, but I've seen a lot more positive activity from Douglass than Hirschbiel (please correct me if I'm wrong, Southsiders !), so I'm not so sure about those rankings.

Sadly, few seem to think that we can get rid of slimy Eric this time.

It is going to be close. This area is pretty moderate/center-to-right. Lots of folks like Rigell (for some odd reason). His ads are stating "I even voted against my own party." That will actually carry some weight here.

He's one of the Norquist pledgers so I'd like to see him get hit on that from Hirschbiel.

At this point, I haven't seen any negative ads from either candidate. If one were to go by yard signs (like Warner was talking about at the Convention), then it is a 50-50 tie. On another note, I have seen exactly one (1) Romney yard sign and zero (0) Obama signs. Still pretty early though.

If Warner was right about yard signs, then Ron Paul would have slaughtered Romney in this area. You can't swing a dead cat (not that I condone such actions) without hitting a Ron Paul sign.
