    But there will be signals. Even the Bush II Crew knew too run the trial balloons up ahead of time. Considerable saber-rattling will take place before an actual attack.

    But this diary, suggesting to keep up the pressure with petitions and letters, this diary makes a good point.

      As recent history has shown, it's not the LW base that pols in both parties care about, but the RW base, and public opinion in general--i.e. everyone not on the left. In fact, when DFH's like us tend to complain about something, they tend to view it as affirming their position. So I'm not sure these petitions will amount to much absent the left's obtaining the sort of leverage over Dems that teabaggers have on the GOP. And that doesn't seem imminent.

        I think it fair to say President Obama would prefer to hand of the Presidency w/o an Iranian war on his watch. The more Americans who write him urging this course, the more confident he will be knowing that stance has support. There's no sure thing but it's a way to lengthen the odds.
