    Yes, it's dark, but it's also cooler in many places, and warmer in some places, for example, near undersea vents.

    I'm not suggesting in our lifetimes.  I'm suggesting that as it gets more difficult to live above sea level we are likely to explore and transition to undersea life, especially if earth  agriculture collapses and mammalian and fish extinction gets underway at the top of the food chain.

    Most of what we know about biology in the oceans is near the surface and the edge of land.  There's much more biology under the sea than we have even observed to date.
