    While I would dearly love the scales to fall from the eyes of those deceived into voting for and supporting this tyrant, I have to agree with Krag.

    I was in Madagascar in 2002 from Jan-April during their peaceful revolution. They marched in the streets 700,000 strong for 3 months because a dictator had stolen their election. My Malagasy friends begged me to help them understand why we did not fight for our democracy after Nov 2nd 2000 when Bush stole the election. After all, they said, "you are our model for a democracy, we love and believe in your constitution". I had to explain to them that, while they were in the streets because democracy would bring them equality, and equality would bring them sustinence (Madagascar is one of the most chronically undernourished countries on Earth), we Americans were too fat and happy watching our mindless TV schlock to care that our Constitution was being pulled out from under us.

    It is a sad thing when a poor African country has to set an example, for America, of what Democracy really means.
