  •  The punchline (none)
"Every measure, my friends, was taken to engage in war."

Succinct and accurate. But you were correct in your original estimation: this won't go anywhere. And the reason is simple if you follow the money (or who benefits).

Because around 50% of America or more are benefitting in some way from not considering the horrible truth. They sense that there may be something hidden in that huge bulge under the carpet, but they'd rather live with it than find out what it is. So they place a large chair immediately over it. It wobbles, but you can't see why.

To put it another way, America is like a patient with a mess of serious medical symptoms, who won't see the doctor because they'd rather not find out that it's cancer. Well, if it is cancer, it'll be much more difficult to treat once they finally bite the bullet. If it isn't, they won't find the peace of mind in knowing, nor will they be able to find the right cure.

Still, there's nothing one can do to make 'em. Here's my challenge: get Judy Woodruff or Wolfie, or even Anderson Cooper or Aaron Brown to talk this up. Just one, anyone of 'em.

I don't think it can be done.

"...there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so." Hamlet, Act II, Scene ii.
