explain why this piece of shit is still on the Armed Forces Radio?  Why do our troops need to hear this dangerous flame fanning bullshit day in and day out?  Maybe we need to start a movement to get him off of the AFR?...

I'm pretty sure it's not the younger troops.

I suspect there are a few higher up in the command who do, and they make sure he stays there.

That's nothing new. Been that way for ages.

    •  There was an effort to get Rush off of AFR. (3+ / 0-)

The petition to do this was sent to the White House, with (i think) more than 25 thousand signatures. It was turned down.

The best way to deal with Rush is the same way our movement dealt with Glen Beck -- informing his sponsors.

Beck is still making noise, but he is far less damaging than he was before he got kicked off of Fox News (due to advertisers dropping sponsorship).

in petition form to the WH Petition Site and got 25K sigs in 2.5-3 weeks.
AngelaJean put up a diary on the response from DoJ: Having Blimpbaugh on AFN does not cost the taxpayer anything (Rush gives it away) and "we at AFN don't censor."
My rebuttal, in formulation, centers around more harm than good done by keeping him on FOREVER, why does he have squatting rights?; does his vitriol contribute to anger issues among the troops, as it affects regular people not under stress of combat?; does his confabulation create the wrong impression among citizens of countries where our bases are? (everywhere).
I don't want this creepy, dumpy, nasty schlub representing our country, and if people who don't know what he sounds like were made to listen to his spew, they might change their decision to support his "free" speech.
I hope the kids in the forces are plugged into their own music or listening to Thom Hartmann.
