    The people who framed the constitution distrusted the American voter so they only let him (pronoun historically correct) vote for his representative in the House of Representatives.

    We have an Electoral College for electing the president  indirectly and, as a result, someone can be elected president without winning the popular vote - John Quincy Adams, Rutherford B. Hayes and Benjamin Harrison, for example.

    Look at electoral vote projections.  Popular vote is used by the press to gin up interest because the electoral college is too complicated for a sound bite explanation.  We're smarter than that.

    That said, we have to retake the House and make some inroads to getting to 60 in the Senate unless the Democrats can revise the rules on the filibuster.

      at least mildly of the prospects downticket. It will affect turnout energy so I like to know it for the overall election prospects.
