  •  Perhaps he is also thinking about 2016 (9+ / 0-)

Think about it.  Who are the Republicans going to run in four years?  They have a proven tendency to reapply with a warmed up looser (Nixon) -- why not Mitt?  His only serious competition was from the tea party nuts, and he is in the process of discrediting them completely through the Paul Ryan maneuver.  By that time he would be able to reinvent himself as a born-again moderate and claim that ObamaCare was all his idea.  And to think I imgined this man was stupid.

    •  then he'd better clean up those tax returns (15+ / 0-)

because that won't just evaporate over the next four years.

R-Money/R-Ayn, the ENRON Ticket, is not a campaign; it's a hostile takeover bid.

He's 65, will be 69 in 4 years, and seems to be having trouble keeping up with the pace of a national campaign even now. He's off again this weekend (so's the Pres, but unlike Romney he has a day job). He's off most weekends, if you check back over his campaign schedules. Maybe he'll go up to NH and take the boat out....

This is turning out to be way harder than he thought it would be, and maybe he's even thinking that the job is harder than he really wants.

Oh, and who could they run in four years? All the guys who were smart enough to realize they couldn't beat Obama this year. Starting with Thune, Portman, maybe Christie (though he could never win the general) or, perish the thought, Bush?
