  •  Well, they're not supposed to fast so even if (7+ / 0-)

they're just bordering on being heathen, like my husband, my children and me, we will eat well. My MIL makes a big Rosh Hashanah meal, complete with her incredible brisket (also made at Pesach). And of course there's the always popular apples with honey (and the far less popular honey cake which is usually pretty awful no matter who makes it, in my experience -- any good recipes out there?).

    •  I'm going tomorrow to the bakery... (5+ / 0-)

to try and avoid the Sunday crowds.  I think I might have to call in advance if I want to get pecan pie.  Yes, I know not a traditional dessert, but it's been almost a year since I had it and I avoid it because I don't want the calories that come with eating a whole one of those.

As for honey cake, I can't help you on that :-\

Enacting our agenda requires winning elections. Oh, and me on Facebook.

        of honey cake.
There was a local cafe run by a wonderful baker and she made the only truly good honey cake I've ever had -- people actually asked for 2nds! I ordered from her each year for about 5 years. But she got worn out and sold the cafe so no good honey cake anymore.
