All I see is that Rasmussen (barf) has Romney up by 1, and Gallup has Obama's 3-day job approval under 50% for the first time since the conventions.  Sure, Romney fucked up, but that's NOT the big story at the moment, just a small part of a big story.

and Romney lost a full news cycle. All that has been in the press yesterday and today about Romney is that he fucked up.

I just looked at the news.google.com Elections section as an example.  At least from my view of it at this time, the biggest Romney headline is "Fly With Mitt On Hair Force One".

If you dig a little, you'll find a USA Today article which doesn't mention how factually challenged Romney is (let alone how much of a dangerous jackass he is).  I just went to my two big local newspaper websites in Detroit -- all I see (apart from the recent EPIC-MRA poll results showing Obama ahead) is a rather noxious article from Nedra Pickler (who's fair and balanced the Fox way).

Mitt's lost a ton of news cycles.  About the only one he's arguably won involves selecting Paul Ryan as VP (and even then that was pretty weak).  If those bad news cycles amounted to anything, Romney should be 20-30 points back.

The Village has been putting its thumb on the scales and cancelling itself out for a long time now to keep the horse race close.  At this point, I doubt awful news will have any great effect.  I'd love to be proven wrong but I'm just not seeing it.  We already knew Romney's foreign policy skills are only exceeded by the character that he's built from a lifetime of poverty.  We already know he's a dick and a flip-flopper of the highest order.  Why isn't this guy dead already?

They routinely overpoll R's and underpoll D's. Their methodology is suspect.

Gallup used to be a quality group until the old man died/left and the Rightwing loon son took over.

There's a reason the D-Kos poll roundup tends to leave them behind.

A weapon that is also a treasure is certain to be used.

And have expressed disgust and/or anger and/or disbelief and/or ridicule in my hearing; without my soliciting their opinions.

from a bright young conservative: “I’m watching my first GOP debate…and WE SOUND LIKE CRAZY PEOPLE!!!!”
