  •  After the Republican Party implodes (1+ / 0-)

due to an insufficiency of angry rich old White Pseudo-Christian men, we can see an extended period in which the Democrats have things to themselves, while the plutocrats, the Malefactors of Great Wealth (TR), the Economic Royalists (FDR) set about trying to buy out the "Centrist" wing of the Democrats, which then, they hope, splits from the Progressives. The question is, how much of the old Base and its narrow issues will they have to abandon in order to accomplish this? And will the abandoned Evangelicals decide yet again, as they have done in times past, that politics is too dirty a business for such pure-minded people as they?

It worked on the Democratic-Republican Party after the implosion of the Federalists, and the creation of the Republican party after the implosion of the resulting Whigs, and again in the great realignment starting in the 1960s.

Right after the implosion of the Federalists we had the one-party Era of Good Feeling. I'm looking forward to another.

    Hey, Mitt! Thanks for ObamneyCare.
