  •  I think you have to take this (12+ / 0-)

    in conjunction with
    A) the Mississippi primary polling this spring that showed something like 47% of all GOP primary voters thought Obama was not a Christian

    B) as you point out, the Bush-ites who in 2008 STILL approved of W...something like 27%, and

    C) the recent poll in OH that showed 15% of GOP voters thinking ROMNEY deserved more credit for the death of Osama bin Laden than the President.

    My reaction is A) those are Mississippi Republicans, a Haley Barbour breed unto themselves;
    B) and C) least the number has gone down over the last four years. Maybe if Obama is re-elected and they keep declining at 3%/year, by 2016 they will be once again reduced and driven to the fringe from whence they came.

    I can only hope.

    •  I bet that 47% of MS Repubs (5+ / 0-)

      think that non-evangelicals aren't Christians.

      I have to say, though, that it was at least somewhat encouraging to see Bush's numbers get so low. Then again, Repubs who gave up on him probably did so because he wasn't conservative enough for them. He complimented Muslims!

      Therein lies the problem with democracy, even a loose one such as ours: stupid, nasty and/or lazy people get to vote!
