  •  The government already has his tax returns (3+ / 0-)

On account of the fact that:

    They are tax returns.
The government is who you return your tax returns to.

To release them to the public, the government would need his permission. But they have the returns. If there was anything in them compromising to Mitt as a citizen, he would already be in legal trouble. They check that kind of thing. There may be things in them compromising to him as a candidate, but signing a waiver for (say) the CIA to look through his records would not be a big problem for Mitt, he still doesn't have to release them to the public, and the CIA don't usually blab.

Doesn't matter. I've already told several people this evening that Mitt Romney was denied a security clearance, and that's why he hasn't been getting the intelligence briefings. I consider this in the spirit of good for the goose, good for the gander. Whether it's true or not.... Make the bastard deny it.

      Hat tip to LBJ.
