  •  He wants the government to stay out of your right (6+ / 0-)

to dictate to others what their choices will be.  If you don't make the RIGHT choice(decided for you by their church or religious convictions) then the government should put you in jail.   This man is a piece of work and not God's finest.

    •  But he is not a Catholic because he was made (0+ / 0-)

"to accept a creed," he said today. Isn't that a strange statement? There's some underlying jab there I think, at Obama, some accusation unspoken.

months of their birth.  In fact, in order to marry in the church you must promise(unless this has changed) to baptize and raise your children in the church.  The church does not waste their time or resources on people they cannot brainwash from a young age.  It doesn't work as well as it used to.

that's what my dad had to do.  It took on my sister, but not on me. And it started in 2nd grade when I told the priest I didn't want to be a nun or a mommy -  I wanted to move to New York and be a writer.  I might as well have said "I want to be a prostitute."  From that point on I was a target.  And that, boys and girls is why I lasted exactly one year at Catholic school, and have never really 'practiced' since.

          •  Wow. That's incredible! A target for that... (1+ / 0-)

when I was a kid in the 50's we were so suspicious of Catholics. We lived in Cleveland near St. Pat's on the West Side and had to walk next to the church on our way to school every day and we'd been brought up prejudiced against them. I actually feared that church until I was a bit older!

They miss you I'm sure! heh.
