    Eyeballs don 't have that many nerve endings and they apply a topical anesthetic.

    This works for wet macular degeneration. It was actually developed as a treatment for certain cancers, but it works for this too.

    There is no treatment for dry macular degeneration at this point. That's the slow degenerative kind. The wet version happens quickly, but there are now 3 different drugs that can be used, all injections. A pill would be nice though...
