How about "Romney Campaign Does Not Deny Authenticity Of Video Apparently Showing Him Talking About Investing In Abusive Chinese Factory"

    •  I really admire your spirit.... (0+ / 0-)

And this is excellent snark, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is.

I'll back off now and let you contemplate what you are suggesting here if you really are serious, my friend.

      •  Why are you opposed to making Romney respond? (0+ / 0-)

        How would you do it?

What is untrue about my proposed re-phrasing (perhaps a bit tongue in cheek, but completely accurate)?

        •  Is there anywhere that I've indicated that (0+ / 0-)

I was opposed to asking the rmoney campaign about this?

And until the rmoney campaign is asked about this (which so far I don't know that anyone has done this) and responds (or not) the title is overtly misleading to be any sort of actual journalism - I think that you have to at least look at this from that angle, eh?

Really, do you want KOS to look like rmoney and his midnight attacks on Obama with the embassies situation?  That's what this has the potential to do, IMHO.

          •  But Romney WON'T get asked about it (1+ / 0-)

unless we and others (MSM) continue to press the story.

If Political Wire and the Boston Globe didn't go with the video it apparently might have died on the vine, judging by what I'm reading about what happened 5 days ago.

            •  Then have higher-ups here at KOS (0+ / 0-)

contact the rmoney campaign, and ask.  Email some of the mods and get their take on this.

I don't think that you or I or any of the other posters here have any credibility with anyone at the rmoney campaign, but there are those who might be able to get an answer.

But see....... in how this is framed is a key.  And I just don't think that this diary, as written at present, is in any kind of framing to approach.

I'm sure that there are some pros out there that would hopefully know how to do this, and will.

In the meantime, my friend, I would love nothing more than for this to be all true.  However, this just isn't an accurate diary at present, and it presents KOS more as bumblers and fumblers than a factual site.

              •  Romney won't respond to anyone at Kos -- (0+ / 0-)

Isn't that pretty obvious?  Even getting in a dialogue with Kos would be considered apostasy by the wingnuts.

And we don't look like bumblers and fumblers.

The diarist is reporting on a story featured initially by the well respected Taegan Goodard on Political Wire, and then reported on by The Boston Globe and the Washington Post.

We don't need proof that it is true to raise the issue and demand an answer.

I don't really see how we can lose in this, even if the video is not authentic.  My wife saw it and predicted that most people would agree with Romney, and that it wouldn't hurt him; although I disagree with her, I don't see anything remotely slanderous in the video, and I think Romney would stand by his comments, thinking "What did I say that was bad?"

                •  What will also be curious to observe here, (0+ / 0-)

I think, that now that this video is out, can the rmoney campaign somehow get ahead of this story as they need to, and whatever they do, most likely the faux outrage, so that it's just another battle for the red meat, and they won't lose any support from this (how much support they're losing from the red meat crowd otherwise is another matter) if the video is a fake?

Or if it is a fake, another option is to ignore it?  Or wait a bit and see if they can somehow find a proper moment to insert this into the discourse (but as we seen, as the embassy events started, it seems rmoney really jumped to early and completely overplayed there, so)?

Now if it is real.....???  If I were them, I'd say ignore it, they have to, eh?  But if somehow this is substantiated (voice print identification, source speaks) what way are they going to handle it if they don't pounce on it right away and at least attempt to get control of this.

So now I'm undecided as to if I really want to know the answer to my own questions above?  The things we see and hear here, eh?

    •  That would be fine, if (1+ / 0-)

the Romney campaign has been asked about the video.  As far as I know, they've not been given the opportunity to either confirm or deny, unless someone has asked the question.

      •  Someone with clout has to ask, or else (0+ / 0-)

        Romney camp will ignore it.

Are they going to respond if you or I send them an email?

This is why we have to keep this thing viral, so it gets picked up on by someone with a microphone and Romney has to talk about it.
