  •  In 1980 there was already a "jobs deficit" (9+ / 0-)

    in the inner cities.
    Beginning with the Reagan years, the job situation got even worse.
    (I know because I was in Oakland from 80 to 92.)
    During the Bush years, whites started to find out what innercity blacks had been going through for the last 30 years.
    No jobs. Not enough jobs. The jobs that exist don't pay a living wage.
    Then the recession hit, and we should have all realized that we're in the same boat.
    We have to have a robust, growing middle class. That means middle class and working class jobs. We need space on the ladder so that people who are in poverty can climb out.
    We have had the opposite circumstance: a declining, shrinking middle class. That means downward mobility and more people depending on the social safety net.

    The post that is the subject of this diary is just a classic example of how the 1% has brainwashed and pitted one underprivileged group against another one to hide the truth.

    You can't make this stuff up.
