but the CBS report has this:

According to FilmL.A. Inc., responsible for filming permits in the area, a Duarte-based group called Media for Christ obtained a permit to film in the county for one day in August 2011.
So, they were involved--no surprise--but not sure if that translates to "the whole things was filmed by."

I'm just saying that a lot of things discovered after the Blumenthal article was published points to a lot of incompetence, amatureness, and low-budgets, not some well-planned, well-funded enterprise that, as some suggested at the very beginning, Karl Rove might be behind.

    •  The CBS report... (6+ / 0-)

...also quotes an electrician who worked on the project, who said the bulk of the filming, everything but the day at the Ranch Studio and a day at Nakoula's house, was otherwise filmed on the premises of Media For Christ.

But you need to explain what happened next and why. Why the premiere to ferret out Islamic terrorists in the US (recall also that the title was Innocence of Bin Laden). Nothing to do with Egypt. Nothing to do with non-Muslims "learning the truth" about Islam.

This seems to be Klein's idea, since he is into that sort of thing and participates in militia groups and thinks Muslims are a physical threat in this country. Both he and Nakoula attended the premiere and Nakoula was crushed when he heard that so few had shown up:

Mr Klein said: ‘We handed out flyers all around Southern California. It was originally called: ‘The Innocence of bin Laden’ as we wanted to draw in the most radical Muslims and we figured the one per cent who were the most militant would interested.

‘In the end nobody showed up to see the premiere. I called Sam right away and he sank into a depression.

‘I told him nobody was there and he said: ‘Really?’ He was really upset. It seemed to fizzle out until a few days ago.'

In a bizarre twist, Mr Klein added: ‘I was so worried about retaliation that I did not get out of my car when I was watching to see who turned up to the film.

‘I have gray hair and a big grey moustache so I dyed them both black and wore sunglasses so nobody would recognise me. I was worried somebody would turn up who knew who I was.’

And it did fizzle out. There is no film anymore. Except perhaps in the basement of Nakoula's house. Why is that? Media for Christ planned it all to be this way?

Then you would have to say how much money was raised to make the piece of crap. We all thought at the beginning 5 million. That looks like a joke now. Nakoula told authorities 50-60,000. Did Media for Christ help raise that money or did Nakoula get it from relatives in Egypt as he says? We have no proof so far that Media for Christ raised that money, right? Even so, 50,000 is not that much money.

        •  Many of the "facts" you reference there... (7+ / 0-)

...were generated by individuals associated with the production of "Innocence of the Muslims", individuals who have blatantly lied to media.

          •  But also... (11+ / 0-)

...because I'm enjoying your questioning, let me respond to this - "Why the premiere to ferret out Islamic terrorists in the US (recall also that the title was Innocence of Bin Laden). Nothing to do with Egypt. Nothing to do with non-Muslims "learning the truth" about Islam."

Well, our knowledge of the film's origin mainly comes, as I just noted, from suspect sources. I suspect we're peering through layers and layers of disinformation here.

If it is indeed true that the premier of the 'film' (if such a film ever existed - there's no hard evidence it ever did. All we know is that there's an incoherent trailer) was intended "to ferret out Islamic terrorists in the US", that does not preclude the film trailer being re-purposed, to other ends. It's called recycling. But the idea that such a bizarre trailer might "ferret out" terrorists strikes me as beyond silly.

            •  I'll number this (0+ / 0-)

              1. People did see the film! The police were even there and questioned Nakoula since he was acting suspiciously. We have interviews from at least one person who showed up. Also, the actors worked, what, for a week on it. So really seems like there was a full-length version.

              2. I haven't yet noticed a Steve Klein lie. Remember, he's the one who first told us that "Bacile" wasn't an Israeli. Also, it turns out the title of the film back then really was "Innocence of Bin Laden" as he said when first interviewed, since we later found photos of the flyer.

              3. Yes, it was recycled. But how well? It sat amid cat videos for two months before someone dubbed it into Arabic. And we don't know who did the dubbing. And why make a full length film if your real purpose is only 14 minutes? So it sounds like more incompetence of the bozo and criminal Nakoula.

We were all told that an Israeli raised 5 million from fellow Jews to make this movie. That offensive lie, when shown (partially by Klein), led us to find who really was behind it. And we discovered some who were involved, like Media for Christ. But you still seem to think this was a big-time, 5 million dollar project! So you talk a layers and layers of deception. It's a piece of unwatchable crap made by fringe wackos that probably envolved little money or was made with little care (you read the interview of the actor who said that the filming was all a farce, right?)

and the only people assocoiated with the trailer are Sadek and Sam Bacile according to the wiki and it's sources I posted above.

Geller and the rest may have known or not6, they may have approved the overdubs...and youtubeing...or not.

Hateful and squalid they all are, certainly..yes.

but the trailer and any subsequent fomenting using it is where the damage was done..and another question: were some of these people's intent really the trailer? (the wiki says the actual movie may be shown in Toronto..but waffles a bit..'movie' in this case implying there is an actual finished movie...which version?)

After all, I love a good conspiracy, but to suggest they all did this originally to inflame and cause riots is unsupported isn't it?..., that they (Sadek and Bacile) had this idiot footage sitting around and decided to use it seems , well, obvious, so yes, for them malice aforethought: maybe...but after the 'movie' was made and edited there was malice and forethought when Sadek dubbed it into Arabic and when Bacile posted it to youtube.
That's the part right there where they(Sadek and Bacile) crossed the line imo.

Additional mideast promotion hasn't been detailed ...yet...that caused the upsetting attentions in the mideast...but likely it was thru the usual people like the all too predictable Salafists.

For all that may Sadek and Bacile rot in hell.

this will be my last comment here tonight, but I will be reading the next installment you write, esp. since it doesn't really look like you know what you are talking about.

Or at the least that you are not up to date concerning the film.

    •  Media for Christ and Joseph Nasrallah (Abdelmasih) (6+ / 0-)

had the facility were most of it was shot with a green screen.  I don't think we know yet about the dubbing.

I do think is also about following the money to get this made.  And more exposure is needed about who Gellar and Spencer like to hang around with.  For example, John Bolton has spoken at the hate rallies.

It seems to me that their is a whole Islamophobia Industry and that story needs to be told.

thing is what you can do with very little money or power (after all, this wasn't published in a newspaper like the Danish cartoons). It was the power of Youtube.

promoted the trailer in an Egyptian Christian paper, who interviewed a Salafi leader about it. See @princeofrazors on Twitter.

The founding fathers knew of the mutually corrupting influences of Church and state, wisely sending them to opposite corners.
