  •  Even if you accept that America is a "center right (8+ / 0-)

country," the word "center" is in there for a reason. There is nothing centrist about the Republican party in 2012.

Romney would have been much smarter to run a less ideological campaign like that of Scott Brown in MA. Instead, he got scared by the flip flopper label and gave the far right everything they wanted.

    •  The problem with Romney is that he has (6+ / 0-)

no core convictions whatsoever, other than he wants to be president. And he'll say or do (or spend) anything to get that.

He's spent the last four years lying to just about everyone, on both sides of the isle, on all of the issues. Now, no one believes him, and they definatley don't trust him.

Mitt has two things going for him, and they both have nothing to do with anything he's ever said or done. He's got multi-millions in right wing SuperPac money supporting him, and attacking pres Obama. And he has the Voter Suppression laws that Republican governors have passed.

      That's it.

      That's all he's got.

Unfortunately, that last one (Voter Suppression) just might "win" the election for him.

      •  I wonder if the whole thing could backfire when (3+ / 0-)

thinking Republicans realize that their party is making it difficult, if not impossible, for their own parents or parents of close friends to vote. In addition, there are already some rumblings regarding the added costs of implementing these new laws to cash-starved local governments. These rumblings are bound to increase when voters become fully aware of the fact that voter fraud is not a problem in this country.

Some of the MSM have already commented on how the elderly (including white republicans) are being negatively affected by the new law. Most voters do not believe in winning by cheating - it's just un-American.

Consider the recent push back over Ryan lying about his marathon time. This story has not gone away. This last Saturday SNL incorporated it into their opening skit. This lie, and the campaign not protecting Clint Eastwood from ridicule, may well be the major reasons Baracks "white male" poll numbers have recently increased.
