  •  Funny, we have a certain group here that would (0+ / 0-)

    agree:

“It’s really important for us not to give any legitimacy to these people in the streets
    •  i can't spend much time here, haven't noticed it (0+ / 0-)

but i did notice a lot of OWS supporters going after Obama for not marching into the white house and kicking ass- since that was also the RW radio meme of 'obama the messiah' couldn't get shit done, i was often confused and suspected trolls at times.

This is a list of 76 universities for Rush Limbaugh that endorse global warming denial, racism, sexism, and partisan lying by broadcasting sports on Limbaugh radio stations.

      •  It was more that Occupy refused to be co-opted (0+ / 0-)

        unto either party.

And a 99% movement, not connected to Dems or the President, pissed some people off.

So, as is human nature when you're pissed at something or someone, a certain group of progressives attempted to delegitimize it.

And it will happen again if they gain any steam.

        •  i think OWS bigger problem was/is (0+ / 0-)

a few loudmouths on 1000 radio stations all attacking OWS (me too) all day long for weeks and then long after OWS had quit.

for ANY occasions the way to get democracy back is to protest at and bring attention to the single most effective weapon the 1% has.

for a while OWS WAS louder than that coordinated corporate megaphone, one of the few progressive 'voices' that was the last 20 years, but the radio kept going long after.

i was listening to the local blowhards in colorado continuing what limbauhg and hannity and that clan was saying nationally- attacking protestors, exaggerating the cost to the community, effect on traffic, and screaming that they needed to be ignored by media and steamrolled by the cops. egging on the cops  and getting their made-to-order pro corporate constituency (teabaggers/dittoheads) to scream the same talking points on cue loud enough for the mayors and govs and reps and police to hear them, loud enough to make them believe THEY were the common wisdom, the majority, the 99%.

there is some implosion happening now as the first real talk radio candidate is regularly repeating what only the nutjobs on the phones and at the water coolers were saying. rove knew they should have stayed in the limbaugh closet but romney is such an idiot he has to rely on the actual material. palin was the first time a talk radio candidate got that close to the white house and now it's a total talk radio ticket. bush was a success for RWTR but rove knew how to use it without letting bush look like he actually believed the alternate reality veery much.

the most effective protest movement americans will ever have is the one that happens at those radio stations and shames the universities and local sponsors that keep it going and the media and politicians it enables.
