  •  We will go there! (3+ / 0-)

I've never seen my husband come out of a bookstore empty-handed, lol.
We found a pretty great yarn store in Columbia too, different area of town. I'm new to crochet and all the choices they have just about overloaded my system--too much visual input! Crochet keeps me calm and cheerful.

if it was Hillcreek Yarn Shoppe, they've moved.

i'm a fairly new knitter and love it.   knitted scarves for the youngun's who stood Occupy during the winter.   made me feel better for not standing with them then!  ha.   :-)

I found them only recently so they must have already been at the new location. I was excited to see their billboard on the highway! I never heard of a yarn store with a billboard before...I found some wonderful things and even in a short visit some inspiration, but when I came out I told my husband (who was reading a book in the car) I might need oxygen or something! It's a bit intense for a sick person not at their best, lol. Next time I'll carry a dehydration pack.

Isn't yarn fun?! I made some caps for a friend going through chemo--this pushed me to try harder to learn new techniques. I am glad you knitted scarves for Occupiers, that's great. I thought about that too but I am still very slow.

that you've crocheted caps for your friend going through chemo, i'm sure they loved it!!!  yarn from Hillcreek is amazing stuff, i wish i could afford for everything to made with the brands they sell.

Their old store had a huge barrel filled with scarves and hats for people in Joplin who were hit by the tornado a season back, and some of the women there knitted caps for premmies.  that's how i got the idea to knit for the Occupiers.  i was so impressed by how kind the women were at the store and how willing to help a me, a newbie,  with questions.

the garter stitch (basic knit stitch) is all i do, i'm not creative with it at all but i knit a bit every day and give scarves away to everyone i know.

hope to run into here again and also hope your health issues don't wear you down.   :-)

I will think of you when I go there next, and will look for you around the Great Orange.
