    Really -- our foreign policy, our energy policy, budget projections -- they're all pointless and vain exercises, if we don't solve climate change. Everything else will be overwhelmed by the impact of climate change, even if it doesn't spiral out of control to challenge our very survival -- which is not out of the question in the next millenia.

      a century at the very latest if nothing much changes.
      It would be remarkable if the species could survive to greet another millenium if we continue with our insane course. We could easily hit a rise in temp of 6 degrees celsius in less than 200 years.

        from storms, floods, droughts, fires, migration of species (including tropical diseases), and extinctions.

        It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "underwater mortgage".
