I suspect that if Romney ate babies on national TV Rasmussen would STILL find him up by 1%

He looks pretty silly as the only pollster that shows Romney up. No other poll is even close. The NBC/WSJ  poll comes out tonight so we shall see what they show.

Chuck Todd noted that, before the conventions, he characterized the race as 14-13 Obama at halftime.  Today, he characterized the race as 28-13 Obama heading into the fourth quarter.  Foreshadowing?

I'd have placed it more like 21-13 Obama at "half-time" and say it's now 28-13 well into the 3rd quarter rather than starting the 4th. Still, nice to hear Chuck is also close to throwing in the towel given how often he tries to show "balance" when on air.

          •  I don't know what you mean "throwing in the towel" (3+ / 0-)

Todd has always been fair to Democrats and to Obama, in fact moreso than almost any nonpartisan political journalist, and the same goes for Mark Murray and the rest of the NBC political team.  They have said for months that Obama is winning (even if narrowly), when other reporters wouldn't say that.

Todd's wife was a Democratic campaign hand, worked for John Kerry, and Todd himself in college worked for Tom Harkin's 1992 Presidential campaign.  Yes, you read that right, Todd helped Harkin's Presidential campaign.

I do think there's probably foreshadowing in those First Read comments, even if it was an unintentional slip.  If the numbers were unchanged from last time, I bet he would speak more measuredly about the state of the race right now.

Not on broadcast TV.  They never say it on NBC proper, only on MSNBC.

...on NBC broadcast.  I rarely watch broadcast news.  I did watch some NBC broadcast the night of Obama's convention speech, but that might be the only broadcast I've seen all year.

If Todd is more tight-lipped on broadcast, I would bet that's on orders of his superiors.

I think Todd has been on Meet the Press before which, of course, airs on NBC proper (granted this was probably years ago, around the time of the last presidential campaign, I haven't really been watching the news lately, I don't have cable and I work graveyards anyways so any ability to watch the news is limited by that).

Yesterday I said 13-3 Obama in the 4th. The blue team isn't scoring a whole lot, but the red team can't get anything going at all.

...on TV.  He made it sound like it was nothing.

Two touchdowns and a 2 point conversion going into the 4th?  That's great!  Hopefully, Romney isn't John Elway.
