      It was Byron York of National Review Online who broke this story.

      Um, why did he do that?

      He didn't provide any context that this is perfecty normal.  He just let the facts hang out there.

      This underscores a big problem Romney has had this entire cycle:  no one has his back.  Republicans will not come to his defense.  Sometimes they half-ass it, but there is no real rallying around him when he gets in trouble.  They don't like him or trust him, and so they cannot bring themselves to go to the mat for him like they would almost any GOP Presidential nominee.

      Even McCain, for all the disdain the right had for him, didn't have conservatives and Republicans letting him hang out to dry like they do Mitt.
