David Corn by the time she posted them here, so not even really sure what the point was of showing them.

Mother JOnes was still saying 'we won't reveal the date and location' of the event, yet that was enough to accept the validity of the tapes.

they wouldn't release the tapes until they had some sourcing, where and when, and that is why they didn't get them out until yesterday.

clips here, had already been in contact with David Corn. That's what she said in the diaries - look for a big expose coming soon on Mother Jones. I don't know what she was trying to accomplish by posting them here since she already had MJ working on it. MJ waiting on the sourcing is a separate isseu.

...is a difficult venue for original research journalism of this type for this reason.

I'm not saying it can never be done properly, but MSM outlets have at least some kind of credibility that random DKos diarists are always going to have trouble with. MSM will
slant stories or inappropriately put their $0.02 in, but are at least somewhat unlikely to relay completely false or fabricated information. MSM outlets can also be held accountable: anonymous or quasi-anonymous bloggers can always fade back into the woodwork.

Blogs are excellent for analysis and commentary, they are worse at breaking "actual news".

Which is why I cringe every time I see someone on a blog celebrating the demise of another newspaper or news magazine.  Well, okay, maybe some of them deserve to go under, but we need something to replace them, and it doesn't look like blogs are going to be it.
