in rural Pennsylvania.  Our area consisted of small farms that have long sense disappeared.  Every family that I can recall had a Grandma or Grandpa, or both living with them or one who had recently passed away.   I had a cynical Uncle who used to strongly hint that many of the death of the elderly were suspicious, especially if the farm was in Grandma’s name and she suffered from dementia.   No one checked such deaths  too closely, back in the good old  days.
