I don't remember the link, but apparently funds donated to the candidate but not used aren't returned to donors, aren't put automatically into some Republican fund for the next campaign - Mitt gets to decide what to do with them.  And you know Mitt is good at finding and keeping money for himself.

I fully believe he's out there raising money for himself, and when the Republicans find out about it around mid-November, they are going to be royally (g) pissed.

    •  And those loans made to Willards campaign? (2+ / 0-)

The collectors are gonna have a beach of a time getting through Willards fone menu.

Press 1) if you made a loan to a Swiss account

Press 2) if you made a payment to an anonymous PAC

Press3) if you deposited in the Cayman Islands

Press 4) if you deposited in other tax sheltered account(s)

Press 5) if you are too stupid/poor to have a tax shelter and want to/ did donate anyway.

Press 6) if you are a member of the political insiders (the Villagers)

Press 7) if you are a party member that wishes to donate surplus funds from this election cycle

Press 8) if you are a member of Willards famliy

Press 9) if you wanted Mitt to win because you are also incredibly rich, and also an asshole, personally and professionally

Press 0) if none of these options apply. An operator will be available in four years.

    •  While it is illegal for Romney... (0+ / 0-)

to keep any excess funds for personal use, if anyone can find a loophole to line his pockets, Romney is the man for the job.

If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid.

      •  If corporations are people, then people are (0+ / 0-)

corporations, especially this one.  And contributions to his campaign may not be used for personal use, but for his corporation, of which he's the sole member?  Probably has enough lawyers to at least try to keep the money for his corporation's use.

He might even hold open the option of future campaigns, at which point he could use the money for any number of trips and purposes because he could always claim them as campaign expenses, including trips to Gstadt, the Caymans, etc, etc.
