  •  Yes, hard-hitting news in America would truly (none)
    be a real treat.

Just having watched the Britsh elections, my God. Now that is democracy. There the citizens talk to their elected officials they way citizens should talk. They treat their politicians as public servants who work for them. Unlike here where our royal idiot is feared by the media dorks and will not tolerate anything more than a scripted, Soviet-style, town hall.

If only Jeremy Paxman of the BBC could have an hour with Bush! Did you see the interviews he had with the three major candidates? It was fantastic. I thought Howard especially was going to explode. Paxman would kick Bush around like a soccer ball.

That we are to stand by the president, right or wrong is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. ~Teddy Roosevelt

This is really newsworthy, and I think you've hit on one of the biggest issues.  There is a news blackout in the US that does not exist in the UK media.

But there is a real problem that Bush cannot prevent.  What is truth on one side of the Atlantic, is truth on the other.  The issue is not whether the US news will carry the story, the issue to me is, are Americans willing to read their news from UK sources, and then demand that the US media report on the facts.

Who controls the media, controls the fates.
