  •  Walker's job boom (9+ / 0-)

The problem here is secular liberals insisting on using 'facts".  As Saint Ronnie said, "Facts are useless things".
Any person who wants to understand economics at a really sophisticated level needs only the Wall St Journal editorial page.
You won't find any elitist "graphs" on those hallowed pages. This is why public education is so dangerous.  What if our students learn critical thinking?  They might criticize stuff, that's what!
Better they learn in publicly-funded church schools, where no one will tell them that zebras came from frogs.

    •  St. Ronnie was merely messing up a quote (5+ / 0-)

The actual line from John Adams is:

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.
Argument in Defense of the British Soldiers in the Boston Massacre Trials (4 December 1770).
Reagan mucked it up by substituting "stupid" for "stubborn". I don't recall the context, but I think that it really wasn't an attempt to dismiss reality the way today's GOP does. Remember, St. Ronnie is too liberal for today's Republicans. In their minds, he is a socialist.

The GOP is the party of mammon. They mock what Jesus taught.
