I think e-books are going to be a huge boon to seniors as the more tech savy generations age.

I am only 50 and while I can read regular print still, I need large print to read things like books, where you're reading for a period of time. Otherwise, I get eye-strain after about 15 minutes and stop.

In the past, seniors and those with vision impairments had been limited to the few titles publishers chose to issue in large print. With e-books, every book is a large print edition!

I too love the feel of a book, but in order to enjoy reading any more I need an e-book.

    •  another plus to e-readers... light weight! (1+ / 0-)

as more and more folks develop carpal issues from keyboarding and game controllers, handling a regular 3" thick book becomes more and more difficult.

Not only can I adjust the font size, and the degree of back-lighting when reading on my iPod Touch, I can hang onto the thing until I run out of charge! 8-)

... let's see, 128g/4.5 oz (with protective soft case) for my iPod, vs. say, 605g/one pound, 5.5 oz for a dead tree edition, medium sized, of a David Drake title I picked up randomly from the sale box... we are down-sizing our library, A LOT, by replacing allergy-paper with e-editions, although we are retaining a LOT of children's books, and hard copies of our very favorite authors (i.e. Lindsey Davis, CJ Cherryh, the Davids (David Weber, David Drake, David Eddings, David Brin, 8-))

"real" work : a job where you wash your hands BEFORE you use the bathroom...
