  •  Bravo! Kudos to Your Family, Especially Mom (14+ / 0-)

I come from a "privileged" background, too.  Two working parents, both taxpayers; never a day without a comfortable roof over my head or 3 homemade meals put in front of me; superb education, for which they helped me, I worked, and got scholarships.  Jobs always awaiting me.  Don't believe I ever went looking for work -- it always came to me.  What blessings!

Now I'm retired (early), well to do, without worries, a happy parent and grandparent of productive and one day-to-be productive citizens.  Married to a loyal and still very hard working man who is "legally" past retirement age, and who's dedication to his family insured our comfortable future.  He served in combat, became an officer in the USCG, and now works in a profession.

At no time did we make a penny by destoying the lives of others or any entity.  Quite the contrary.

And yes, we're entitled to LimeSpouse's generous military retirement, our future social security, his Medicare, and my eagerly anticipated same.  We earned it.  As did our parents, and as are our descendants.

Do we pay taxes?  You betcha!  Thousands each year in federal income tax and proud to do it, too.  We're so grateful for the opportunities we were able, and continue to be able, to capitalize on that (speaking of "capital"), we'd be willing to have our capital gains taxed at the same rate as our earned income.  No kidding.

Can you match that, Willared?  How 'bout your sidekick, Gilligan?  Didn't think so. Pseudo patriots, I spit in your general direction.
