Here in RI, there has been a lot of intermarriage (since 1640) between native people and African-Americans. So many (but not all) of the current Narragansett are very dark-skinned with African features. But culturally the Africans married into Narragansett culture, and that culture is dominant in the descendants.

The main point I take from my research is that trying to classify any individual into a single racial category mostly shows how socially-constructed and artificial the categories are. At least in the Americas, it's been such a mix for 500+ years (and possibly before that). Even doing the genealogy chart may not help, and census takers for most of our history put down what they thought the person looked like, so the same person may be labelled differently in different years. Now at least they ask how you identify -- but that may not match your DNA either.

This country was founded on equality for all.

“Labor is prior to, and independent of capital.

Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed.

Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.
