    •  That moment will always stand out (8+ / 0-)

It's like his parents never even taught him the basic courtesy of how you behave in normal society or if they did he decided at some point that those rules don't apply to him.

He could write "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People" or "The 7 Secrets of Highly Unpopular Politicians".

“Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough.” FDR

      •  yeah really: diplomacy 101 ! (0+ / 0-)

Agreed, people shouldn't be obliged to put things in their mouth that for whatever reason they don't want.

And I have nothing but awe for diplomats and others who can eat stuff that would make me projectile-vomit ("escargot?!?! those are snails!, ewwwww!") and do it with a smile.

But none the less there are better ways and worse ways to decline something that disgusts you.  The better ways are the ones that don't put the other person down.  The worse ways are the ones that put the other person down in a manner that creates shame or embarrassment for them.

Unfit Mitt apparently doesn't know the difference.  I'd hate to see how he deals with local cuisine at foreign dinners with heads of state.  ("He insulted our national dish!  This means war!")

"Minus two votes for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.

... the local 7/11s have donuts that are actually decent and even tasty.

You must be a donut snob;-)

    •  Don't you get your sandwiches at WaWa? (0+ / 0-)

In Pennsylvania, home of the Cheesesteak and the Dinick's roast pork and broccoli rabbe sandwiches, people eat at Wawa? That's like George H.W. Bush at K-Mart being mesmerized by the scanner. How about when he went shopping in Wolfsboro and bought nothing. Cheap clueless elitist.
