    for the fact that Romney could have amended 2-3 years of returns in order to get those rates up higher.  You know how he loves the retroactive thing.

    I can see him filing amended returns for 2007, 2008, and 2009 where he changes his deductions the same way he did for this 2011 return.

      He wouldn't go to the trouble to do that, that's not Mitt's way.

      It wouldn't buy him all that much, anyway.

      And that "changing deductions" thing was not "elegantly worded" to coin a phrase, it's not clear what exactly they were trying to say there. In any case, that is not that big of a deal and I think the front pagers are jumping to conclusions about what that really means.

      They understand politics, but as far as taxes are concerned they are in the tall grass and are a little bit lost IMO.

      He's not going to file amended returns just to monkey around with a "blended" 20  year average rate. It makes no sense.
