Now they want the names to link to the faces in their dossier-compiling system.

NSA tech + "shiny" consumer wrapper = total acquiescence.

We are rapidly becoming a total surveillance society, which is the first step toward a total control society, and fighting back starts with refusing to grab for the shiny objects.

That also goes for Gmail and Gvoice: more evil pervasive surveillance tech disguised as "oooh, shiny!"

      •  "free" isn't "free" if you value being free. (0+ / 0-)

Google has become such a huge and capable surveillance machine that NSA copied the design of a Google database for one of their own databases in their new Utah complex.

NSA's version has, if anything, more safeguards for freedom & privacy, in the form of better compartmentalization to prevent its own employees from going on fishing expeditions.

And for maximum creepy, check out Google Voice's "feature" whereby it transcribes Google Voice voicemail messages for you, and sends you the text in email.  That level of speaker-independent voice recognition was originally NSA tech from the 1980s - 1990s.  If they can do it to voicemail messages, they can do it to any other traffic that passes through Google Voice telephone numbers.

And Google, unlike NSA, is not prohibited from selling your personal information to your employer or prospective employers, landlords, mortgage lenders, etc.
