He was very excited about Reagan... "this will be a Republican year" he crowed... he adored Phyllis Schlafly and admired Hong Kong tremendously... great for business and the really great thing was that the businesses paid such low wages...

Way back then. There must have been a lot of Jr. Reganite/Goldwater avengers around in California (and elsewhere)... but back then how did they feed their fellow wingers the BS that today is so efficiently delivered via FOX News, Clear Channel and their local mega church sermons...? It was such a stone age era for spreading the word with no internet, twitter or YouTube....

I guess they have always been around in one form or another. Another friend of mine back then (this was in L.A.) personally used the usual hippie and disco drugs, had been a serious counter culture guy in the 60s but in his early 30s vacillated from parroting the BS his holy roller church pastor programmed into his flock every week and living a more alternate set of lifestyle choices... (his hot wife was the real holy roller in the family... a nice person but very evangelical and yet died very young...very sad)

I mean the stuff he came out with from his nut job preacher: recommended using the word "abortion" as a scathing term for anything bad or a bad idea so as a meme war tool... said pepper is bad, serves no purpose, is a waste of money and ... I guessed the unspoken extra problem was the "Inciting the carnal passions" issue as well (silly man more recently studies show definite health benefits)... and of course there was the "Amway" period along with other things.

I do recall several other religious hypocrites and oddballs all at the place I worked at the time... it was the disco era with coke and plenty of pot around and it was not just the non-Holy Joes using it... it was a mixture in that company... some very proper evangelicals who did not lead a double life while others were talking the talk.... but not living it exactly.

But back to the Fallen Mormon... still a Mormon actually... just doing pot (drinking beer) and not married... and lusting after his best buddy's (non Mormon) girlfriend.... here we were, just wage slaves in the spare parts division of an IT peripherals company  and he worked in the warehouse section and even so was all for Hong Kong style wage slaves. I suppose today he thinks the current incarnation of Chinese semi slave labor is a great thing that we should copy in the USA.

Pogo & Murphy's Law, every time. Also "Trust but verify" - St. Ronnie (hah...)

election away from being like Mexico, the very very poor and the very very rich with nothing in between. They have been working on this for 40 years and I don't expect President Obama to fix it even with a second term I only hope he has set them back at east 20 years in their plan to make is all serfs.
